We are a family of eight - Chris and Rosie and our six children. We live on eleven acres of land in beautiful rural New Zealand. We have a river that winds around our boundary and provides endless enjoyment in summer.Currently we are living in a ninety-year-old barn while we build our new home. You can read more about that below. We are singer/songwriters and I (Rosie) am passionate about writing books that will inspire and encourage families.

Where Lions Roar at Night is an engaging  book for the whole family to enjoy.

\n"); document.write("

Ten year old Milly had always dreamed of living in the country and owning all sorts of animals. So when her parents buy a piece of land and move their six children into a ninety-year-old barn, Milly can't believe her luck.
But she never imagined that living the simple life would include mucking out a filthy water tank, gathering endless supplies of firewood, clearing the land and rescuing animals in a 'hundred year' storm.
Nor did she expect to hear deep groanings in the night...

\"Where Lions Roar at Night is a truly wonderful story that will be loved by all ages. A must read!\" ~ Cynthia Hancox, homeschooling mother, New Zealand \n"); document.write("

“This book is a winner! We devoured it as a ‘family read’ in less than a week. Many chores were left undone as my family pleaded for “just one more chapter, Mum!” again and again. We got to know each family member as a close friend, laughing at their antics, sharing their adventures with enthusiasm and their crises with bated breath. This is the captivating, real life story of a Kiwi family that every reader would want to know and be a part of, a family who cares for each other and shares each other’s triumphs and losses. It’s about creativity, making the most of life’s ups and downs, dancing in the puddles (or
canoeing in the floodwaters) on rainy days and living the great adventure with whatever’s at hand.

Where Lions Roar at Night
is more than the New Zealand family biography that we’ve been longing to read, it’s an inspiration to families and readers of all ages. We can’t wait for the next installment!”  ~ Jenni Anderson, mother

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and wisdom in your book series, The Gift of Values.  I have been struggling with our morning devotions - trying to inspire our six children, who are all different ages, and trying to keep them all interested. Your book really has been an answer to prayer. I feel like God has touched my heart and kissed my forehead.

\"Some would say values are better caught than taught. But both approaches are needed. It respects a child's intellect to explain clearly what generosity is, for instance, and why we should be generous. The Gift of Values is an excellent tool for teaching values. Use it while you also demonstrate consistency in living out those values before your children, and you will effectively pass on Godly values to the next generation.\"

  THE HOUSE PROGRESS

\n"); document.write("

It's been a while since I updated this - too busy building! But we had a huge push before Christmas to get the place ready so that 35 family and friends could stay there. The sewareage system was put in and toilets up and running; windows were put in the bottom story and glazed and painted; the upstairs is all painted inside now; Chris made heavy, solid external macracarpa doors; the lights were all connected upstairs...lots of work, but it's so exciting to finally see the house taking shape. It's been two years now. We hope to finish and move in before winter. Chris and I went for a walk to Lantern Waste on New Year's Eve and it was such a thrill to look back across the meadow and see the house all lit up with candles and lanterns and hear the happy voices spilling out...

BARN NEWS

We've had a week of rain and wind and the river is rising! The kids are delighted. Yesterday I heard giggles and peals of laughter coming from down by the river. I got my camera and put on some gumboots and crept up on them. There they were, swinging on the rope swing into the  brown flooded river. And the river bank was one slippery, slimy mud slide. They showed me how they could have races sliding down the bank into the river. They were filthy!! But boy, they had fun. Chris and I took videos and photos. Made me think we all need to make time for mud slides somewhere in our busy lives.

But yesterday Chris arrived home from a farm with a large box. Inside was a new Indian Runner drake - a fine specimen, and better yet - Chris saved him from an untimely death! The ducks are delighted with their new drake and the very next day, they all waddled off in a line to show him the river!
